¡Vamos Rafa!

(Photo by Matthew Stockman/Getty Images)Speaking of Teevy boyfriends (well we were, weren't we?) - here's another one of mine. Rafael Nadal, tennis player extraordinaire. I've always loved watching tennis - when I lived in the UK watching Wimbledon was practically compulsory - and I've always had a thing for the boys who provide a bit of drama on court.

You can see it's been a while since any of my faves have been at their peak, so it's quite a treat to watch Rafa hurtling around the court at 100 miles an hour. Boy, can that guy move!

I've been trying to catch as many French Open matches as I could, but as we're on the far side of the world it means they are broadcast in the middle of the night here. I've had a few late nights the past couple of weeks...

(Photo by Matthew Stockman/Getty Images)I taped the final on Sunday, as I really didn't think it was a very good look to turn up late at my new job again, and yesterday I managed to get through the entire day without finding out who won. Woohoo! Apart from the occasional broken signal (it was on during the massive gale I blogged about the other day) it was all there - and I watched it last night. Phew! It's always a bit of a worry that I'll tape the wrong channel and end up with 3 hours of dog show highlights or something.

(Photo by Clive Brunskill/Getty Images)Wow! What a match! The first set was pretty worrying for a Nadal fan to sit through, but I kinda figured he'd find his range eventually. Roger Federer's final gasps in the fourth set were pretty impressive, but somehow I didn't think he'd be able to force the match into a fifth set - and I was right. Nadal was just too good, too fast, and too... spinny for poor old Roger.

I just love the speed and the fire with which he plays. It's always entertaining to watch. Plus at the French Open I get to combine my Teevy boyfriends because they're always mentioning Clay. Or is it clay?

This was one final I had no favorite - love them both. I'm a huge tennis fan - go so far back to my original red-headed love, Rod Laver. Was a huge fan of all the Aussies. And how I miss Patrick Rafter - beautiful in every way. I love the classic elegance of an Edberg - which is why I love watching Federer. But my ultimate . . . Yannick Noah. Oh man I loved watching him play. Beautiful, graceful, with an incredible smile and such joy.
